US retail sales ticked up last month in sign of ongoing consumer resilience 

Americans spent slightly more at retailers in August, with retail sales increasing by 0.1% from July. Online retailers, sporting goods stores, and home and garden stores saw higher sales. Despite inflation and higher interest rates, consumers continue to spend.
